Following the resounding success of IMHX 2007 – with a record total attendance of 19,223 and over 350 exhibitors – space at the next show in 2010 is already 55% sold.

Exhibitors at last year’s show are reporting excellent business results from the exhibition and a large percentage of them have booked for the next event, which takes place from 2-5 March 2010 at the NEC in Birmingham.

Held only once every three years, IMHX is the undisputed leader in UK logistics events, showcasing thousands of products and services across its 45,000m2 footprint. Running under the slogan ‘Inspiring Materials Handling eXcellence’, IMHX 2010 is set to feature once again all the industry’s major players.

Exhibitors report valuable deals from IMHX

A number of exhibitors have reported successful business deals resulting from last year’s event. TS Associates Ltd, for example, followed up an enquiry from the show that resulted in a large order for storage equipment. Explains Sales Director, Steve Swallow, “A lead from the Wednesday of IMHX resulted in a £140,000 project including pallet racking, decking and anti-collapse mesh. We have, to date, received in the region of £190,000 worth of business from new contacts at the show.”

Paul Fleming, Managing Director of vehicle seating company TEK Seating, commented at the end of IMHX 2007, “We’ve had a steady stream of good, solid enquiries from major dealers, with some very exciting leads form Scandinavia.”

Forklift truck supplier Clark announced during the 2007 show that the company had received an order for 9 trucks through Bear Handling Ltd, one of its newest dealers, while BAE Systems (Submarine Solutions) at Barrow-in-Furness had placed an order at the show for a truck worth some £40,000.

Other exhibitors found the show to be an ideal platform for demonstrating new or complicated products. Mike Cogger, MD of KNAPP UK Ltd, commented: “We’ve found IMHX to be the perfect platform to launch a new product. Having a fully operating model of the SPEEDER-SYSTEM on our stand has made the product easy to explain to customers.”

Darren Boiling, of explosion-proofing experts Pyroban, said at the close of IMHX 2007, “We have had a fantastic show. The quality of the visitors has been good for us; many of the visitors have been existing users but we have also had lots of new enquiries.”

New regional shows launched

Confident in the buoyancy of the logistics market, IMHX organiser Quartz has also launched three new regional shows for 2008 under the brand of its leading industry magazine, ‘Storage Handling Distribution’. ShD Scotland will take place at the SECC in Glasgow on the 22nd and 23rd April; ShD South East will be staged at the Kent Showground near Maidstone on September 17th; and the Westpoint Centre in Exeter will host ShD South West on 12th November.

As with its showcase IMHX event, Quartz is implementing an active promotional campaign to attract visitors to the new regional shows. Publicity and advertising in both the trade and regional press is being combined with a direct mail and e-cast campaign to pull in high-calibre visitors to the three events. With a limited number of stands now available at each of the shows, potential exhibitors are being encouraged not to delay in making a booking.
